Job description

Vital Human Resources, part of Morson Group, are recruiting for a Rail Safety Supervisor.

Eastern Region (North & East, East Coast Mainline & East Midlands)

Vital Rail is a major support services provider, completing enhancement, renewal and maintenance projects for the rail, light rail and construction sectors.

Job Title: Rail Safety Supervisor

Location: Eastern Region (North & East, East Coast Mainline & East Midlands)

Start Date: ASAP

Duration: Ongoing, long term

Role

  • Monitor contractors’ site activities on or near the railway as Network Rail’s representative to confirm that the site activities are conducted in a safe manner with minimum impact on the operational railway.

  • Monitor that the works being undertaken, that could impact on the operational railway are in accordance with accepted designs and ensuring where relevant hand back forms are completed.

  • Undertake ES/PIC/COSS and Site Warden duties as directed to safeguard contractor’s staff where work being undertaken that requires protection in line with the Rule Book.

  • Supervise site works as instructed by the Network Rail Construction Manager.

  • Attend pre-possession meetings and represent each project for COSS/ES duties and report back.

  • Provide site diaries and photographs for each site visit/shift.

Essential

  • Railway background

  • Good communication skills

  • Clean driving licence & own transport

  • Excellent understanding of Rule Book site safety arrangements

  • ES/PIC/COSS/Site Warden/IWA

  • PTS

  • Mobile phone

Desirable

  • 3 years’ experience in construction or railway industry

  • 3 years’ experience in supervisory role in construction or railway industry
