Keith Wright – Safety Advisor, continues his amazing skating career

Keith Wright – Safety Advisor, continues his amazing skating career sweeping 3 gold medals, a silver medal and 2 new world records!

Since March 2021, it has been a very hectic time for Keith Wright, safety advisor at Vital Human Resources. Keith continues his busy role working as safety advisor, developing relationships with all Vital employees. Whilst doing his day-to-day job, he is still working hard at his skating career. In March 2023, Keith competed in the World Masters Championships in Amsterdam. He won every individual distance equalling 3 gold medals! There were 92 competitors from 15 countries, this makes him 4-time world champion.

Keith decided to take 2 months from training and restarted in June, mainly cycling and gym work to build up his stamina again then concentrated on ice from September for upcoming events.

Most recently in January 2024 at the World Masters Olympics, Bormio, Italy, Keith competed and won every individual distance - winning 3 gold medals and silver in the team relay. This was the first time he had competed in this event. (The competition is the equivalent of the winter Olympics for the older generation. There were 108 competitors from 22 countries).

Keith’s extensive list of titles, including Scottish Champion, British Champion, European Champion, World Champion, and Olympic Champion, highlights his dedication in the field of speed skating. His willingness to compete in new events, like the team relay at the World Masters Olympics, shows his adventurous spirit and determination to push boundaries.

Keith’s commitment to coaching and developing the local club in Sheffield, as well as contributing to the International Masters Speed Skating Committee, underscores his dedication to the growth and global development of master’s speed skating. These achievements show a combination of professional merit and athletic ability, making him a role model and in both the safety advisory field and the world of speed skating. His story continues to be an inspiring one, for those looking to balance a demanding career with personal passions and achievements.
